As part of the Games a Compassion Relay with a “Dream Team” of “Champions of Compassion” will pass a virtual Compassion Torch highlighting the many ways that compassion unites our communities.
The Compassion Relay kicked off on the National Mall in Washington DC on September 10th led by the Points of Light, the largest service organization in the world, starting the Relay and passing the Compassion Torch to 9/11 Day in New York City on September 11th where they will be packing up to 1,000,000 meals. Four time Olympic Gold medalist Sanya Richards-Ross was in NYC to help promote participation in the Games.
The Compassion Relay and the Compassion Torch passing will continue with Compassionate Silicon Valley, including the Mountain View Chamber of Commerce, Silicon Valley Interreligious Council, Stanford University CCARE, and then to the UC Berkeley Greater Good Science Center, Gratitude Revealed - a collaboration between Oprah Winfrey and Louie Schwartzberg, the Peacejam foundation with 13 Nobel Prize Laureates, the Dalai Lama Fellows with Hereditary Chief Phil Lane Jr. and Dr. Jane Goodall, the Parliament of the World Religions will pass the Torch to the United Religions Initiative (representing 750 Global Cooperation Circles) and then to Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer, the Muhammad Ali Center, Service For Peace, Global Game Changers, and the rest of Compassionate Louisville, and then to United Nations and the International Day of Peace.
